In Via San Marco, Italy, where the family of the 20-year-old Albanian, Alfred Vocaj, lives, there are only wailing cries and people entering and leaving with their heads down.
Many friends and family members are with the Vocaj family, who yesterday lost their only son in a tragic motorcycle accident in Padua.
The boy's relatives realized what had happened as soon as they saw the news, but the confirmation from the police shocked them even more. A cousin of the 20-year-old says:
"I was glancing at the newspaper pages when I read the first news of the accident. I started shaking as I read the few details: the road where the crash had occurred, the type of motorcycle involved, the time it happened, the age of the person who died. I immediately thought it was him, everything matched. I tried to call him several times on his cell phone, but he did not answer. Then the panic started."
His father, Gjeka, an entrepreneur for 26 years in the construction sector, said with a trembling voice:
"My son, like every day, was going to work. A week ago he was employed as a mechanic in a garage in the industrial area of Padova. Previously he had worked in a fruit and vegetable shop, also in Padua. He had a great passion for mechanics and was also pursuing a specialization course. He wanted to improve, he was making his dream come true."
However, a life of hopes and aspirations that was taking shape was destroyed in a few moments on the fast highway 47. The motorcycle the boy was riding, an Aprilia 125, had been bought only a month ago with the money from his job.
His father continues:
"Alfred was a prudent guy, precisely because of his knowledge of engines, he knew very well that when you buy a vehicle you shouldn't joke. He didn't buy a powerful engine, he knew the risks. He was a guy normal, down to earth, who liked to play sports like many of his peers".
The family of the 20-year-old want to know the exact circumstances of the tragic accident, as they cannot believe how he ended up in the other lane and was hit by a car.
