An amendment to the criminal code was discussed and approved today in the Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Double parking, previously punishable by a fine, will be turned into a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment. Details on why the criminal code is being tightened were provided by the Socialist rapporteur, MP Ervin Hoxha.

"Increasing road safety and protecting the lives of citizens by penalizing second-row parking that impedes the circulation of emergency vehicles; Preventing total road blockages and serious obstacles for pedestrians, supporting the free and safe movement of citizens; Strengthening the preventive effect of criminal law so that citizens respect traffic spaces and contribute to public safety; Ensuring a clear and effective legal framework for law enforcement institutions, enabling rapid and effective interventions in emergency situations ," said Hoxha.

But lawyer Ylli Manjani is totally against this initiative.

In a note on social media, the former Minister of Justice says that double parking cannot be a criminal offense.

"Hey, how will the criminal prosecution that takes years stop the ban on double parking?! Are you serious or not?! Wrong parking and clearing the road are emergency issues. That's why the police were created," says Manjani, who immediately emphasizes that "instead of freeing the Code from penalizing other administrative violations, we burden it even more with illogical and ineffective criminal offenses."

"Hey, how is the criminal prosecution that takes years going to stop the ban on double parking?! Are you serious or not?! Wrong parking and clearing the road are emergency issues. That's why the police were created."

But why do we need traffic police, cart drivers, grasshoppers, and who knows what else?!

What is the ultimate goal, to punish people or to free up traffic blocked by double parking?!

How does the prosecutor and judge clear the traffic?!

So the police take the driver to court and leave the car in the parking lot again?!!!

Road traffic is an administrative duty of the traffic police, oh my! A traffic ticket is worth more than any criminal prosecution.

In vain!

Wow wow wow...

Unbelievable!

I thought this logic was a joke, but they want to make it part of the Criminal Code..!!!

****

The idea of ??confusing criminal jurisdiction with street parking is absolutely an abuse of logic.

Instead of freeing the Code from penalizing other administrative violations, we burden it even more with illogical and ineffective criminal offenses.

I don't know!?

"Without hope!", writes Manjani.
