Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro shared with high school graduates this Friday the news that the application period for the forms they must fill out to determine their elective courses has been approved. This period begins on February 2.

"The Ministry of Education and the Educational Services Center have approved the application period with forms A1 and A1Z for the State Matura and the State Vocational Matura 2026, where students must also determine elective subjects starting from February 2," writes Minister Kumbaro in a post on social networks.

Meanwhile, for high school graduates from previous years who want to take part in the 2026 State Matura, it is clarified that the service for A1Z forms will be activated on February 10-11.

The Ministry of Education calls on high school graduates to carefully follow the relevant deadlines and instructions.

High school graduates will take their matriculation exams in June, starting with the foreign language exam on June 2. They will then take the Albanian Language and Literature exam on June 9, while the mandatory Mathematics exam will be held on June 16.

The matriculation exams conclude on June 23 with the elective subject exam, where high school graduates choose between 11 subjects, depending on the branch for which they will compete at universities.

The change for vocational school graduates is that on June 23, they will take the professional theory exam, based on the profile they are following in high school, while on other dates they will take the same subjects as general high school graduates. The 2026 State Matura Exams begin at 10:00 and last 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The test for each of the State Matura exams contains questions from three achievement levels and is evaluated with a maximum score of 60. For students with disabilities, the test for each of the Matura exams contains only questions from the first and second achievement levels and is evaluated with the maximum score corresponding to the second level.

The foreign language test is designed in accordance with the language that is treated as the first foreign language in the upper secondary education curriculum. English, French, Italian, German and Spanish are given as compulsory foreign language exams.
