Residents of neighborhoods number 7 and 8, who are affected by the expropriations that will be carried out as part of the infrastructure project "Lidhja e Currilave" with "Aleksandër Goga" street, protested today in front of the Durrës municipality.

At today's Municipal Council meeting at 12:00, one of the agenda items is related to the expropriation of the houses of these residents, which will be demolished to make way for the construction of the ring road.

Residents clashed with officials and members of the City Council before the meeting began, not sparing insults, while demanding accountability for their decision to expropriate properties.

"Oh, you bastard, you're a disgrace. Oh, you sick bastard, you're not going to come out anymore? Oh, you fucking rascal, you fucking sister," one of the protesters addressed the municipal official.

They also clashed with other officials at the entrance to the Municipality, where they were also confronted by a blockade by the municipal police.

"You signed for us, don't you dare enter the meeting. Get out of the meeting. Shame, shame. Don't leave the toilet, they're destroying our house," a citizen told the Council member as he entered the meeting.

From the square in front of the municipality, they called on Mayor Emiriana Sako to open the door for them to participate in the meeting, while also calling her a thief. "Emiriana Sako, open the door, you thief," residents can be heard saying.

The residents state in their statement to the media that they were not informed in advance about the demolition of the houses and oppose the expropriation value, because according to them it is impossible to buy a house with this value.

Residents are asking the municipality to provide them with a house in advance. According to the municipality, the financial value of the expropriation of 867,776,164 lek has been approved in principle, for the private properties affected by this public investment.

131 owners (private and state) have been identified for whom the expropriation value has been determined.
