Former Socialist Party MP Jurgis Cirbja was arrested today in Durres on the orders of SPAK, while three charges are being charged, but not that of "abuse of office".
The State Police have provided information on the operation to arrest Chirbja, who, as Voxnews.al reported, was handcuffed while in the car driven by his driver.
The State Police executed today the security force of arrest in prison appointed by the First Instance Court for Corruption and Organized Crime against the citizen Jurgis Cyrbja, as suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "Altive corruption in elections", provided by Article 328 of the Penal Code; "Support of the perpetrator", provided by Article 302/1/2 of the Criminal Code and "Trade of State Secret by Citizens" provided for by Article 295/1 of the Penal Code. Tomorrow there will be a press release with more details.
We recall that Jurgis Chirbja resigned only a few days ago, after being taken indicted by SPAK. He is accused of "abuse of office" while running Durres Mortgage, before being elected as mp in 2021.
Çyrbja was summoned on October 11 to SPAK by prosecutor Dritan Prençi, where he was questioned for over eight hours, following the 2021 deposition made by Edi Paloka.
