The United Kingdom has deported another 20 Albanians convicted of various crimes to our country. They arrived yesterday on a charter flight.
British media reports that the 20 deported Albanians have been sentenced to over 46 years in prison in total and their group includes an individual who had overstayed in the United Kingdom illegally and two other people with failed asylum claims, with one of them who had arrived illegally via a dinghy in March.
Meanwhile, one of the persons within the group of 20 deportees was convicted for possession with the intent to supply class A drugs and carrying a weapon in a public place, while another was sentenced to over 5 years in prison for supplying controlled drugs class B.
As for the cases in question, Home Secretary Priti Patel said that these people are dangerous criminals for community life in Great Britain.
"These criminals have violated our laws and our values and we will stop at nothing to remove those who have no right to be here. They are responsible for horrific offences, including involvement in the supply of Class A drugs, which has a devastating impact on people, their families and our communities. Since 2021, we have infiltrated nearly 1,000 Albanian offenders, including some who crossed the Channel illegally to come to the UK," said Patel.
She went on to add: “The British public should be in no doubt about my determination to make our roads safer by continuing to crack down on foreign criminals. Our new Nationality and Borders Act will help the cycle of last-minute claims and appeals that can delay infiltrations. nThis is part of a regular return plan in many countries, to remove those who have no right to stay in the UK. In July 2022, 243 foreign law breakers left the UK on both charter and scheduled flights. Since January 2019, the UK has removed 10,741 foreign national offenders (by the end of December 2021)".
