The claims of Ilir Meta and Erjon Veliaj to the Ombudsman's commissioners are clarified.
Six days after hearing in the cells of the complaints of former President Ilir Meta and Mayor Erjon Veliaj, the Ombudsman has addressed a request to the Ministry of Justice and the General Directorate of Prisons to receive documents on the guards' plan of measures and the schedule of phone calls made by the two detainees or even their meetings.
This request by the commissioners against torture comes after they have administered in writing the complaints of two SPAK investigators, who have alleged to the Ombudsman violations of human rights by state institutions.
Top Channel learns what concerns each of the detainees, under investigation for corruption and money laundering, has raised.
From detention center 313, Ilir Meta says that after two public phone calls, his sports activity has been limited as he is only allowed to play ping-pong once a week.
The former president, who has been indicted since May, also says that his phone calls have been reduced, and at the same time, he is not treated the same as other detainees, since when he is released, there are more police forces than others.
Meanwhile, as an official source confirmed to TCH, Mayor Erjon Veliaj is concerned about the way he was escorted from Durrës prison to the private hospital on July 17.
He considered the presence of significant forces as disproportionate and discriminatory.
Sources add that the mayor's other complaint, for which investigations have also been closed, is that the conducted analyses were not made available to him, which should have been made known to him within 15 days, as is the deadline set by law.
The mayor is further concerned about the reduction in phone calls and visits, claims that have forced the Ombudsman to request documents on the procedures that are ordered in the regulations for meetings, phone calls, ventilation, sports activities and health treatment./ TCH
