Based on the accident with 3 victims recorded a few days ago at the TEG overpass in Tirana, the General Directorate of Road Transport Services has made some changes regarding the licenses.

More specifically, for all those who receive a category B license, for the first two years of issuance, they are not allowed to drive motor vehicles with a specific power, referring to the empty mass, greater than 55 KW/TON. For electric or plug-in hybrid cars, the specific power limit is 65 KW/TON, including battery weight.

Some examples of which cars are within the limits to drive the first two years of obtaining a category B license:

Fiat 500 1.0 70 hp Hybrid Connect
Ford Fiesta 1.1 Titanium 75 hp
Renault Twingo 22 kWh Zen
Citroen C3 1.2 PureTech 83 hp
Fiat Panda 1.0 Hybrid 69
hp Hyundai i20 1.2 MPI 84 hp
Kia Rio 1.2 84 hp
Lancia Ypsilon 1.0 Hybrid 70 hp
Mazda2 1.5 75 kf
Opel Corsa 1.2 75 kf
Renault Clio 1.0 SCe 67 kf
Seat Arona 1.0 EcoTSI 95 kf
Toyota Aygo Connect 1.0 VVTi 72 kf

Such a measure has become necessary to avoid serious accidents like the ones we have seen in recent days.

Another change is the extension of the age for renewing the license. Below are the deadlines:

- It was every 10 years until 50 years old, while now it will be every 15 years until 70 years old.
- It used to be every 5 years over 50 years old and every 3 years over 70 years old, while now over 70 years old the confirmation of validity is done after submitting the medical certificates.
