Bad weather, suspended for 4 days the navigation of fishing gear along the entire coastline

As a result of the bad weather that is expected in the coming days, the navigation of all fishing vessels along the Albanian coast has been prohibited.

The cruise ban starts today, February 9th until February 12th.

The General Maritime Directorate announces that international maritime transport ships for passengers and vehicles will currently continue to operate normally according to their respective destinations.

"Based on the forecast for the deteriorating hydrometeorological situation along the Albanian coast during the dates 09-10-11-12.02.2024 starting at 14:00 on 09.02.2024 in the direction South-South-East, South-South-West in the force up to 8-9 to 10bft with wind speed up to 35-45m/s and wave height from 3.50 to 4.50 meters. In order to prevent any unexpected situation due to atmospheric conditions, we request the cooperation of all entities that exercise activity in the field of maritime, to take all the necessary measures for securing the means in the port and increasing the readiness of the crew in the vessels.

Prohibit granting-departure on 09-10-11-12.02.2024 starting at 14:00 dated 09.02.2024 for all small floating vehicles, fishing vessels operating along the Albanian coast and have been notified of TAKING MEASURES FOR THEIR SECURITY.

International marine transport ships for passengers and vehicles will currently continue to operate normally according to the respective destinations, if there will be schedule changes or interruption of navigation, we will notify you. The improvement of the worsened hydrometeorological situation for small boats and fishing will be after 06:00 on 12.02.2024", the announcement states.
