Reis Haxhiraj has been extradited from Greece, the arrest in the neighboring country was made after he was declared wanted internationally on behalf of the Albanian authorities.

Haxhiraj escaped in 2013 from the Drenova prison in Korça together with 6 other people, including Admir Tafilaj, as he was sentenced by the Court of Appeal of Vlora to 13 years in prison for taking a policeman hostage for an incident that occurred in in 1998 for a conflict between both parties.

Reis Namik Haxhiraj from Selenica of Vlora was convicted for taking a policeman hostage and injuring his brother. He had committed the criminal offense in collaboration with two other people, Artur Rrapaj and Zini Hoxha.

In 1998, in the place called Izvor, armed and masked, these three persons kidnapped the police inspector, Yzedin Gucaj, and injured his brother, Dhimitër Gucaj.

It is learned that the much-wanted Reis Haxhiraj, from the time he carried out the kidnapping until the moment of his arrest, was hiding from justice in the neighboring country, Greece.
