Meta reacts to the preliminary hearing at the GJKKO: What did SPAK prosecutors finally understand?

A preliminary hearing was held today at the Special Anti-Corruption Court (SAC) against former President Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi.

The next trial will be held on January 29. Until the case goes to trial, hearings will be held every Thursday at 10:00 AM.

Former President Ilir Meta also reacted to the session from his cell.

Initially, he makes a clarification, saying that the hearing was not postponed, but that the preliminary hearing began at his insistence.

In the reaction published on social media, Meta says that "prosecutors finally understand the difference between METE (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy) and Meta."

Meta also called on the Ministries of Justice not to create obstacles to giving interviews, as they have granted permission to journalists.

"The preliminary hearing began. Prosecutors finally understood the difference between METE (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy) and Meta."

I call on all media to be correct and not to spread disinformation, such as claiming that the preliminary hearing against Ilir Meta has been postponed to next week.

Finally, the preliminary hearing took place even though one of the co-defendants and his lawyers were absent.

It was my insistence that this hearing finally begin, and I thank the judge of the preliminary hearing who made this decision.

For 4 hours we listened to prosecutors reading their charges against CEZ-DIA, which were as they had distributed on October 21, 2024.

We were forced to intervene several times, not to interrupt the prosecutors, but to help them not lie in court.

The CEZ-DIA affair, where the Albanian state has a profit because it lost about 1.1 million euros but gained over 4 million euros.

The biggest achievement is that prosecutors, after 8 years of investigation, finally understood the difference between METE (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy) and Meta because they constantly referred to METE as Meta.

There were many other achievements, but lawyers can explain these.

So the session was not postponed, the session began.

Even the prosecutors understood that METE is not Meta.

The next session was postponed a week even though I requested two sessions in one week.

Ilir Meta has neither evaded justice, nor does he play games to postpone hearings.

At the end of this entire criminal farce dictated by "Tall Pallos" it will come out, not only that METE is not Meta, but that ILIR META IS THE TRUTH.

However, I want to thank the SPAK prosecutors for giving permission to journalists to interview me and I invite the Minister of Justice to no longer become an obstacle because not only Navalny and Khodorkovsky have given interviews in Russian prisons, but also in Albania, not only detained and imprisoned politicians, but also those sentenced to life imprisonment have given television interviews because every citizen, especially every politician, has not only the right but also the duty to respond to every journalist and media in the interest of public opinion and accountability," Meta wrote on social media.

Meta is accused of three criminal offenses, which were communicated to him on August 4, 2025, regarding the CEZ/DIA file and lobbying in the US.

He is accused of concealing assets, money laundering and corruption.

The former president has been in custody since October 2024, while Kryemadhi is under a mandatory reporting requirement. The “Meta” file also includes investigations into Kryemadhi’s mother, Pirro Xhixho, and Ema Çoku.
