After the accusations of Luiza Gegë, the European champion athlete, that she was denied some rewards by the Ministry of Education and Sports, the latter reacted by claiming the opposite. According to Gega, the rewards were not given, as there were no doping controls in the competitions in question, while they were recognized by the International Athletics Federation anyway.

Regarding the case in question, the Ministry of Education and Sports says that support has been missing and will never be missing for Luiza Gega and for any other elite athlete. According to the latter, athletics in the last two years has received 13 awards in 10 international competitions.

" The support of elite athletes is at the center of the policies of the Ministry of Education and Sports.

MAS has supported and continues to support elite athletes and their coaches through support for federations and through direct rewards for the results they have achieved in competitions in the international arena.

The awards given are based on the provisions of Article 27 of Law 79/2017 "On Sports" as amended and the by-laws derived from it.

Only for the year 2023, the rewards of elite athletes have resulted in about 55 million ALL for 23 elite athletes and their respective coaches for the achievements in the sports they represent.

Our athlete Luiza Gega has been supported over the last two years with 13 awards for 10 international competitions, based on her achievements, from the World level to the Balkan level, five of which are awards for the achievements of 2023.

We will continue during this year, being an Olympic year, the support for our elite athletes ," says the reaction of the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Luiza Gega surprised three days ago when in a reaction on social networks she said that she encountered many difficulties to get an answer from the ministry and after that it was announced that she would not be awarded in three competitions, as there was no doping control.
