Two Maersk ships with toxic waste produced by Kurum landed in Singapore ports on August 18 and 24, and have already taken their way back to Albania.

Singapore media quoted local authorities as having bleached the full itinerary of ships with 102 containers and over 800 tons of toxic waste from KURUM steel kilns and traded by sokolaj company to Thailand.

According to Singapore media, maersk "Compton" with 41 containers and Condor with 61 containers of waste used the Pasir Panjang port for transit and were loaded onto two other ships, with destinations returning to origin.

Asked by reporters whether Singapore had conducted tests to determine whether it was toxic waste or other harmful substances, the National Environment Agency and Singapore's Maritime Authority responded: "In accordance with the Basel Convention, Singapore facilitated the return of containers to their country of origin."

According to the Basel Action Network, which issued the alarm about the Tosic waste, "Albania was never informed about export by the exporter, transit states were not informed and Thailand never received any notification of these remains."

The discovery of 800 tonnes of toxic waste, launched from Durres towards Thailand, has been investigated by the Turkish company Kurum as suspects of producing them.
