In the early hours of June 27, 2021, a conflict over the placement of beach umbrellas in Velipoja caused 4 deaths and 2 injuries.

The event took place between two Gocaj and Verracaku tribes. The victims were the brothers Xhovani and Edmond Gocaj, the waiter of their hotel Myzerim Zeneli and Kujtim Verracaku.

While Hasan Verracaku (cousin of Kujtim Verracaku) and Elmilind Dyli were injured. The crime took place in the yard of the Gocaj family hotel in Velipojë, where the other party had gone to clarify about the placement of umbrellas on the beach.

The two families had acquaintance and friendship between them, but in the ongoing argument the situation worsened until the use of weapons.

In this story, the parents of the Gocaj boys speak, who demand justice and want to know at what stage the investigations of the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office are and why they are dragging on.

The mother of the Gocaj brothers tells the first moments of the event how she found her sons shot with a gun in the courtyard of their hotel. The little one, Xhovani Gocaj, was still alive. While a few meters away was her eldest son Edmond Gocaj, covered in blood.

Nearby were the bodies of Kujtim Verracak, their waiter Myzerim Zeneli and Hasan Verracak, the latter wounded.

Angjelina Gocaj : I work in the kitchen, both the older son and the younger son. We worked as a family.

Spartak Kok a: On that night of June 26, you had finished your work?

Angjelina Gocaj :  Yes, we stayed with the boys on the stairs outside and they didn't say anything to me. Then I sit down to rest in the room. Then I heard the screams. I went to the door, I ran, I found Giovanni lying down. I ran out screaming, I found Giovanni lying alive.

I found it under the stairs. I touched him with my hand, he shook my hand. It was alive, giving signs of life. I went there to that tree and found the Verracaku Memory .

I found the nurse and his wife giving him first aid, I don't know if he was alive or not, she was just telling him to please save my husband. Giovanni was alive there and lying there. And I found Hasan (Verracak) here at Xovani.

Angjelina Gocaj : Here I found Edmond lying, covered in blood. I fell unconscious, I didn't know anything.
