Ervin Salianji met the parents of Martin Cani, the 14-year-old who was killed almost a year ago.
Through a post on the social network Facebook, Salianji shared photos with the parents of the deceased, while calling for the institutions to be obliged to bring those responsible to justice.
"Martin Cani's life was cut short in front of the school gates! Today I was with his parents.
Albanian society has its wounds and traumas, the murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani after a conflict at school was a serious drama that shocked the public and frightened every family. Such events should never be forgotten, because they are alarm bells for all of us.
Today I was visiting the wonderful parents of Martin Can, to honor his memory and share their pain. But this is not enough. Institutions have the obligation to hold those responsible accountable, not to hide the blame behind excuses and, in parallel, to take clear measures: restructuring security in schools, the presence of psychologists and social workers in every educational institution, and educational programs that prevent violence among young people.
"School should be the place where our children grow, learn and dream peacefully – not a place where they risk their lives. The memory of Martin Can should serve as a call to action, so that such tragedies do not happen again," says Ervin Salianji.
