The expansion of the so-called Black List is expected with other names of politicians from the region, including Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Kosovo, but also Albania.
The announcement is carried by the INA news agency, which quotes the document as stating that "the actions of persons who threaten peace and international efforts for stabilization in the Western Balkans" and the current situation in this region "present an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security and the foreign policy of the United States".
On June 8, 2021, the United States expanded the scope of this emergency on the grounds that the region has been facing, over the past two decades, corruption and actions that hinder the agreements reached after the war. American ambassadors in the Balkan region have repeatedly warned about expanding the blacklist for all those who threaten and hinder international efforts for regional stabilization.
In November last year, 10 individuals were added to the said list, as a round of economic sanctions was announced in the Balkans, and the sanctioned individuals were from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
