BREAKING NEWS/ BKH controls and seizures in the Municipality of Tirana

The National Bureau of Investigation conducted inspections at the premises of the Municipality of Tirana on Tuesday, July 28.

According to sources for Vox News, BKH investigators, as part of an operation by SPAK, have conducted searches and seizures at the premises of the local institution. The investigators are still staying at the Tirana Municipality building.

Up to this point, no details have been released on the subject of the investigation or the issue for which these investigative actions are being carried out.

The checks at the Municipality of Tirana come at a time when Mayor Erion Veliaj is under investigation by SPAK. He was arrested on February 10, 2025 and has been in detention in Durrës since then.

Veliaj is facing a trial at the Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, where he is accused of criminal offenses related to corruption and money laundering.

The mayor of Tirana has denied the charges against him and has declared his innocence.
