This is the person who allegedly went to a currency exchange point in Tirana and took the sum of 100 thousand euros, as part of a sophisticated fraud scheme, where the perpetrators allegedly used artificial intelligence to pretend to be businessman Bashkim Ulaj.

The incident was discovered after a report by a 70-year-old man, the owner of Exchange, who fell prey to the fraud after being contacted by people who introduced themselves as an acquaintance of his.

According to Tirana Police investigations, the perpetrators also used a video call, during which they manipulated the appearance of the person on the phone through artificial intelligence, showing the 70-year-old the face of businessman Bashkim Ulaj, with whom he was acquainted.

During the communication, the perpetrators asked the money changer to give them 100 thousand euros, claiming that the amount would be returned within a few hours.

Convinced that the request came from the businessman himself, the 70-year-old handed over the money to the person who showed up at his premises to collect the amount.

But after the promised deadline passed and the money was not returned, the money changer contacted Bashkim Ulaj. The businessman denied having asked for the money or having sent anyone to collect it.

Under these conditions, the 70-year-old turned to the Tirana Police, activating Economic Crime specialists.

Investigators began verifying security camera footage and were able to track down the person who went to the Exchange, as well as the vehicle he left in. The car turned out to be a rental, which helped track down the perpetrators and unravel the scheme.

Police arrested Brian Serica, 31, and Skerdi Meta, 23, while they declared Rigels Hyseni, 31, wanted.

Meanwhile, the person in the photo, who withdrew the sum of 100 thousand euros, remains unidentified.

According to the police, investigations are continuing to capture the person who physically received the 100 thousand euros at the Exchange (pictured) as well as to fully document the role of other people who may have been involved in the scheme.
