SPAK has conducted inspections in the residences of 9 former members of the MEK, as they are suspected of being part of the espionage group, where the former mujahedin Bijan Poolagrad was arrested earlier.
After the examination of the cell phone and its electronic devices, other contacts were also discovered, which are suspected to be part of the espionage group, and which have set SPAK in motion, but which so far has not been arrested.
Who is the former arrested mujahedin Bijan Poolagrad?
Iranian Bijan Poolagrad is accused by SPAK of being part of a terrorist cell, which was planning to carry out attacks on high-ranking officials of the Iranian opposition, who are sheltered in the Ashfraf 3 camp in Manez, Durrës.
The former resident of the Mujahideen camp is facing Albanian justice for several charges, such as "performing services and actions with blacklisted persons", "terrorist organization", or "illegal interception of computer data".
News24 learned that the defendant allegedly cooperated with and received payments from Iran's secret services known as the Revolutionary Guards.
In exchange, the former member of the mujahedin group had the task of photographing MEK members and documenting the places they frequented.
He received orders and instructions through the Telegram application, and according to the investigation, the assassination of a senior member of the MEK was being planned.
Referring to the investigative file, it appears that a member of Iranian intelligence instructed the defendant to obtain a Kalashnikov weapon on the black market and to find trained persons who could commit murder.
The investigation for the defendant was initially initiated in the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, on the referral from the anti-terrorist directorate, which provided the report of a girl who claimed that Poolagrad, with whom she had shared the same apartment for some time, had used her mobile phone.
The investigators discovered that the defendant had sent pictures of the Mujahideen camp in Manza to the address of several people from Iran, who were later declared "under grata" in our country.
The defendant, who has been in custody since 2020, has contested the charges and claims innocence. He will continue his confrontation with justice on July 7, the day when the next session was postponed, after the first one failed, due to the lack of a translator./News24
