Jamarbër Malltezi's wife, Argita Malltezi, has stated that she has not publicly reacted to problems that have marked the history of democracy in Albania, such as "January 21" and "Gërdeci" because she has not been a public person.
For "Top Story", Malltezi said that man has an accountability to God and the law. And despite the fact that the situation has clearly shown that there was no illegal action by state structures, every time he looks at Gërdec's situation, his heart aches.
Rakipllari: Have you ever been impressed because we have not seen you react when there were allegations against your father. 4 people were killed in Boulevard, more than 100 people were killed in Gërdec, we have not seen you raise your voice against these cases for which the opposition of that time accused your father, the former prime minister Sali Berisha.
You react when something happens to you, but not to other cases because your father has been the main protagonist of the events of these 30 years.
Malltezi: I am here because I think I have an obligation to explain to those Albanian citizens who have supported Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party. I'm not here to ask anyone for anything. This issue is a matter totally stripped of substance, it is an issue that will dry up very quickly, as strangely as it started. So, not being a public person, a public reaction to those situations was not expected from me. But be convinced that all those situations are aggravating. Regardless of guilt, which is something else entirely, the situation itself is aggravated.
These are events that accompany the political and historical recourse of a country, it is a great disaster and a heavy burden to face them. It is important that a person is accountable to God and the law. The latter has clearly shown that there was no illegal action by state structures. And the first, every time I look at the situation of Gërdec, it is something that hurts my heart. It is not that it is simply passed.
