Within the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, a "Canadair" firefighting aircraft has departed from Italy and will engage in aerial operations to extinguish the flames in the south of the country, in the Borsh, Piqeras and Lukovë areas.

This aircraft will strengthen interventions in difficult and inaccessible terrain from the ground, providing assistance in dealing with the fire situation that has engulfed these areas.

Meanwhile, Air Force helicopters will be deployed near the village of Zhulat, in the Gjirokastra region, as well as in the Qafë Bualli area, near Bulqiza.

As reported by the Ministry of Defense, there are 21 active fire outbreaks in the country and 16 under monitoring.

The situation remains critical in the areas of Lura, Bulqiza, Delvina, Tirana and Korca, where over 1,350 operational forces and 65 firefighting vehicles have been deployed. In addition to ground interventions, helicopters are also being used by the Armed Forces and international partners to contain the spread of the flames.
