The head of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SPAK), Altin Dumani , has raised concerns during the annual analysis at the High Council of Prosecutors as he pointed out the lack of cooperation with public institutions in the fight against corruption and organized crime.

"It is disturbing", said Altin Dumani, as he emphasized that the number of denunciations from public institutions is quite low.

The head of the Special Prosecutor's Office underlined that there is a 40% decrease in 2023, where he revealed that only 12 cases have been referred.

"It should be underlined that the cooperation of public institutions in the fight against corruption and organized crime is worrying. Based on the number of referrals of criminal offenses by public institutions, excluding the state police, this number is quite low for the year 2023 with only 12 referred cases. The referral from these institutions has a strong downward trend, which goes up to 40% compared to 2022. SPAK has maintained the same approach in the last 3 years", stated the head of SPAK.

Altin Dumani emphasized that SPAK cannot alone cope with the fight against corruption or other criminal acts committed by entities holding a state function.

He added that it is necessary and necessary to strengthen cooperation, as well as increase the number of referrals from other institutions.

"With the exception of the state police, other institutions that also have part of their duties and powers and the fight against corruption, whether at the central or local level, do not refer criminal acts of a corrupt nature or other criminal acts to SPAK. This is a concern for SPAK. Since SPAK alone cannot address and cope with the fight against corruption or other criminal offenses committed by subjects holding a state function. It is necessary and necessary to strengthen cooperation and increase the number of referrals from other institutions. As a structure, BKH or SPAK, we are very open and very cooperative with him. Every institution has established this. In matters of a sensitive nature, we make available all the appropriate technical means, but each institution must do its own duty. The institutions that are also responsible for the fight against corruption should be attentive and increase referrals for criminal offenses such as corruption, violation of equality in tenders", said Dumani.
