A young Albanian couple were arrested while distributing cocaine to users in the Rimini area, while they tried to escape by car, but were caught after a police chase, in a scene like in the movies.

On Thursday evening, the police officers of the Montemarciano station, under the orders of Captain Felicia Basilicata, after a careful investigation, proceeded to check a vehicle in transit in the city center.

The driver, realizing he was being watched by the patrol, tried to leave, but this maneuver did not help at all.

During the search, the two people in the car, a man and a woman, respectively 25 and 30 years old, both of Albanian origin and residents of the Rimini area, displayed a nervous attitude, which immediately aroused the suspicion of the military.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a significant amount of cocaine, already packaged in over 50 doses and ready to be distributed, which the two had hidden inside several packs of cigarettes. During the search, the army also found tools used to package the drugs and a sum of money, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking activity, Italian media report.

The two young men were immediately arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The Ancona Court confirmed the arrest, banning both of them from staying in the province of Ancona.

They are suspected of being part of a drug trafficking network in the Rimini and Ancona area according to local authorities and intensive investigations are underway to uncover other individuals.
