Convicted of trafficking minors and rape, the 50-year-old man who was shot in Saranda is the father of the young man who raped the policeman

New details have emerged from the gunfire that was recorded this evening in neighborhood no. 4 of Saranda.

50-year-old Thimjo Rubati has been urgently transported to Saranda Hospital, where he is in serious condition and is undergoing surgery.

The assassination took place just a few meters from the place where Police Officer Mihal Velço was raped the night before.

Thimjo Rubati's son and two other people, all three with criminal records, are suspected of being involved in this incident.

Thimjo Rubati is not an unknown name to the Albanian authorities.

According to records, in 2022 it was revealed that he had been convicted in 2002 for trafficking minors and rape.

Rubati is also wanted by the authorities for illegal possession of weapons, smuggling and trafficking of motor vehicles.

Meanwhile, the State Police has armored the entrances and exits of the city of Saranda and is conducting checks to identify and capture the perpetrator or perpetrators of the incident.
