New details have been revealed from Wednesday's serious accident in the village of Zëmblak, on the "Korçë-Bilisht" road axis, as preliminary investigations suggest that both vehicles were speeding beyond the permitted speed limits.
According to the data, it is suspected that the driver of the Peugeot vehicle made a wrong maneuver, where according to his statement to the police, he stated that an animal came in front of him and he swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting it.
This maneuver proved fatal as it collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz in the other lane. The impact was so severe that it resulted in the immediate death of the 24-year-old Albanian woman with a Greek passport, a passenger in the Peugeot.
The two young people lived in Thessaloniki, and it is learned that they had come to Albania to spend the end-of-year holidays. The victim's body will be sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tirana as they will be the ones who will conduct the examination because she is a citizen with a Greek passport.
Investigations are still ongoing by the police to fully clarify the circumstances.
