The ceremonial escort, consisting of the guard, the funeral vehicle, motorcyclists, and other utility vehicles for transporting family members, is positioned near the residence where the body of the deceased rests.
A unit of 8 officers in parade uniform of the Guard of the Republic, accompanied by the designated Protocol agents, receive the coffin inside the premises where it is located. The national flag is placed on top of the coffin. The ceremonial officers carry the coffin (3x3), preceded by the officer giving the command.
A dedicated ceremonial officer carries the cushions with the Grand Cordon with the Star of Public Appreciation and other decorations. The unit places the coffin in the funeral vehicle, along with the cushions with decorations. After verifying that everything is properly prepared, the unit lines up and pays its respects, while the escort departs led by the Guard vanguard, Protocol and motorcyclists, followed by the family's vehicles (provided by the State).
08:00 – Departure of the funeral escort towards the Palace of Congresses
08:20 – Arrival of the escort at the Palace of Congresses
The escort stops on the boulevard, in front of the sidewalk, leaving the funeral vehicle in the center, opposite the Palace gates.
In the square in front of the Palace, on the right side, the Honor Guard of the Armed Forces is lined up in uniform or interarm format. On the left, opposite the Honor Guard, are accommodated the director, cameramen and photographers who will cover the sequence in the media.
On the facade of the Palace of Congresses, two banners are placed with the inscription:
"Fatos Nano 1952–2025 – National Homage".
A red carpet is laid from the square to the entrance of the Palace. On the steps of the palace are the ceremonial soldiers of the Republican Guard (12 – 6x6), who pay their respects in unison.
A unit of 7 officers of the Armed Forces Honor Guard takes the coffin out of the funeral vehicle (3x3), preceded by the commanding officer and the one carrying the pillow with the Grand Cordon. The stairs are climbed and the coffin is placed on the black velvet podium, in the Hall of the Palace of Congresses.
11:00 – Përfundimi i homazheve publike
12:05 – Zëri i fshehur lajmëron:
12:07 – Zëri i fshehur lajmëron folësin e parë.
12:12 – Zëri i fshehur lajmëron folësin e dytë.
12:20 – Zëri i fshehur lajmëron fjalën e Kryeministrit.
The military procession is formed in front of the stairs, with the cannon bed in the middle on which the coffin will be placed.
12:40 – Hidden voice announces the National Anthem:
"Before we bid farewell to former Prime Minister Fatos Nano, decorated with the Grand Cordon with the Star of Public Gratitude, we honor the National Anthem."
12:45 – Movement of the procession
After the signal given by the Protocol, the coffin, which is in the lobby, is taken by the Honor Guard unit, followed by the officers carrying the decorations. During the formation of the procession, everyone remains standing.
The movement of the procession is marked by the beginning of the musical piece "I did it my way".
After the pallbearers, the procession is formed by the immediate family and state authorities. The first rows follow, then the second, and so on.
As the coffin arrives at the Palace steps, the military procession takes up a position for a gun salute. The unit places the coffin on the cannon bed and the procession begins to move, preceded by the OFFA playing a funeral march.
Next comes the Honor Guard, the photo bearer, the decoration bearers, the ball carrier with the coffin, the family members, and the authorities.
The funeral procession continues to proceed under the marches of OFFA on the boulevard, until it arrives near the Prime Minister's Office, where the escort (the same one that brought the coffin to the Palace) awaits.
Upon arrival, the funeral procession begins. The coffin is then placed in the civilian hearse. The family members are greeted by the authorities and board the escort vehicles.
Once everything is ready, the escort, preceded by guards and accompanied by motorcyclists, continues to the cemetery where the deceased will be laid to rest.
13:15 – The state cortege disbands and the state funeral ceremony ends.
13:30 – Arrival at the cemetery
The funeral is a private and family ceremony. However, the deceased and his family have the privilege of having the national flag that has been draped over the coffin until that moment ceremonially folded by the ceremonial officers and handed over to the family before the coffin is lowered into the ground.
As the flag is lowered, members of the Republican Guard continue firing in honor of the deceased.
14:30 – Funeral lunch at the Brigades Palace
16:00 – End of the last lunch.
