Actor Fitim Makashi passed away yesterday at the age of 82, while tributes were held in his honor today at the 'ArTurbina' theater.

The tribute was attended by well-known names from the world of theater and cinema, as well as friends and acquaintances of the artist.

Also present was Fitimi's son, Redoni, who broke down in tears as he spoke to reporters about his father's passing.

Redoni said that his father's death still seemed like a dream to him, adding that the presence of his father's friends and relatives eased his pain somewhat.

He also shared a brief history of his father's life between Albania and the United States of America, saying that Fitimi felt better in his own country, among his friends, despite going to the US to pursue his dream.

"It happened to us like this, like a.... And at the time we are talking together, it seems like a dream. Friends have respected my father a lot and this takes away some of that pain. These have been a generation that will never return. Their sincerity and their company... At home, he would talk about his friends, but also about his friends who had gone before him. However much it is a pain that we only feel inside. He broke away from the theater early, because those riots happened and during that period he, like his mother and father, were forced to flee to America for 15 years. And every time I saw them return from that country, they always returned older and older. I also told them to stay in Albania, because they had friends and acquaintances here. Life abroad was not easy. However, today when I see his friends, it eases my pain a little. But it is an incurable pain", said Makashi, among other things.

Meanwhile, actress Rajmonda Bulku also participated in the tribute, describing Fitim Makashi as a man of character, combative and brilliant in his profession.

"You don't understand how much pain, but beautiful pain, because how beautiful it is to remember a man with a great soul. Just as he was in his generous roles, so he was in life. A Fitim that we will always remember. He always fought so that in those theater environments there would be a gym that the actor needed. He was also a fighter with his silence and wisdom. So a man dedicated to his profession, an excellent partner, very generous. A brilliant actor with warm characters. Fitim created a character that you remember, you don't forget," said Bulku.

While for actor Mehdi Malkaj, Fitim Makashi was a man in the full sense of the word. Malkaj said that the artists would feel Fitim Makashi's absence more than his own family.

"A man who was a human being in the full sense of the word has passed away. We will feel the great pain that the family is experiencing more than the family," said Malkaj.

Fitim Makashi, the father of singer Redon Makashi, passed away as a result of a serious illness. He suffered from dementia and had recently undergone surgery that worsened his health condition.
