The members of the Habilaj tribe, accused of being members of a criminal group of drug trafficking from Albania to Italy, have moved the battle with SPAK to the Supreme Court to recover the confiscated assets.
Through an appeal sent to the Supreme Court, Moisi and Florian Habilaj seek the annulment of the decision of the Special Appeal of June 2022.
This decision left in effect the First Degree for transfer to the state accounts of 9 assets of theirs and family members, with a value of almost 80 million new ALL in total. The assets that Habilaj are seeking to recover are 2 apartments, a 514 m2 garage, a commercial unit, as well as 5 vehicles of different brands, including the Audi A8.
The members of the Habilaj group were investigated by the former Prosecutor's Office for Serious Crimes, in the same file as the former Minister of the Interior, Saimir Tahiri. After separating the cases, they were indicted by the Special Court in May 2021 with a total of 37 years in prison for the charge of "narcotics trafficking" and "structured criminal group".
The heaviest sentence, with 10 years in prison in absentia, was given to Moisi Habilaj, accused of being the leader of the group. At the same time, they were also sentenced to prison by the Court of Catania in Italy, for drug trafficking. /A2
