Denis Ruçi, the 22-year-old who tragically lost his life in the train accident in Tempi, Greece, is not only a name and figure for whom justice is sought in the neighboring country, but now also by the international community.

An important voice for justice for the 22-year-old is his father, Pano Ruçi, who is seeking permission to exhume his son's body. This request has already been rejected by the Larissa Court of Appeal, prompting him to protest in an extreme manner in front of the Hellenic Parliament.

This event was also covered by international media, such as AFP , which dedicated an article to Panos Ruçi, who is sacrificing his life by being on a hunger strike for approximately two weeks.

"For two and a half years, I have not been able to find justice," Ruçi told AFP, as he stood wearily, wearing a black hat and surrounded by several of his supporters.

A group of girls, touched by this event, cried next to him.

"Don't cry. I only want smiling faces," Panos Ruçi told the girls.

He says he feels very tired, but the only thing he wants is to know what happened to his son.

"I'm very tired. What I care about is simply getting the truth out of what happened to our children," he said to several taxi drivers who came to support him.

Ruçi has started the strike in the area where the temporary memorial for the victims of the Tempi tragedy is located, opposite the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, where his son's name is also inscribed. He is carrying a placard and a banner, through which he demands justice and the right to rebury his son.

The Tempi tragedy occurred on February 28, 2023, at around 11:21 p.m. local time. The head-on collision between a passenger train coming from Athens to Thessaloniki and a freight train traveling from the north to Larissa claimed the lives of 57 people.

There were a total of 350 people on the passenger train, many of whom were injured. The victims' families have demanded justice for the incident. Since the accident, numerous protests have taken place across Greece.
