The case of Fredi Beleri has turned into a battle between Albania and Greece that is now in danger of going to the biggest political stage of the EU, the European Parliament.

This is after Greek Prime Minister Kostandin Miçotaqis nominated him among 42 names for MEPs from his party.

But from an observation on social networks, what stands out is that ordinary Greek citizens, for the most part, either do not know who Beleri is at all, or think that he is an Albanian who was chosen in honor of the community of of Albanians living and working in Greece.

"Nejse, he is Albanian... and what do we care about...", comments a Greek citizen in one of the media for which Beleri has also made a reaction, "Protothema".

Another Greek citizen attacks the party of Miçotakis, writing: "they put convicted Albanians in a failed attempt".

The completely innocent comment of a Greek citizen in one of the most popular "online" newspapers in Greece makes the situation even more ridiculous. He writes: "Very good that an Albanian ran, he deserves to represent a community of 500 thousand Albanians in Athens".

Only in a few small cases, commentators who know the situation are noticed, and in most of these cases they turn out to be citizens of those who call themselves "Greek minorities".
