Igor Kokunov, the Russian citizen caught at the border point of Muriqani, turns out to be a member of a mafia faction in Moscow. According to the red card published by the Russian judiciary, he holds the rank of "Thief", a title he received from the Russian mafia commission.
A few days ago, the Court of Shkodra decided for Igor Kokunov to set the security measure "arrest in prison" with a term of 40 years. This deadline has been left as a period of time so that the Russian Justice brings to Albania the request for his extradition to Moscow.
He is accused of serious crimes that carry a sentence of over 15 years in prison. During the court session, Igor Kokunov admitted that he has problems with the justice system in Moscow, but the criminal proceedings were stimulated due to the bad relationship he has with the dictatorial regime of President Vladimir Putin.
Ivanov claimed that he wanted to enter the Albanian territory for tourist purposes and that he had no knowledge that an arrest warrant had been issued against him by the Moscow court.
Despite these allegations, Igor Kokunov has been imprisoned for 40 days. He was defended by two Albanian lawyers, while in the courtroom, two citizens, specially arrived in Albania from Montenegro, have shown interest.
During his stay in prison, Igor Kokunov has shown health problems, causing his lawyers to file a request for his transfer to the prison hospital in Tirana.
