About 20 children aged 14 and 15 from Poland are among those poisoned in the city of Vlora.
The children arrived today from Shkodra by bus to the city of Vlora, and left from Karaburuni on a tourist boat to the island of Sazan.
The doctor of the Vlora Hospital has told the media that there are about 20-25 children who have received medication, 5 of whom have been admitted to pediatrics.
While the director of Vlora Hospital, Bruna Mersini, said that the situation is under control, but it cannot be determined what caused the mass poisoning.
"The children are 14 and 15 years old. The children traveled all day, they came from Shkodra, after the trip they took the ship to Karaburun. They presented with gastrointestinal disorders, the situation is under control. So it is the alert that we give to the situation when there are many children. It is an epidemiological investigation. These are children, the heat may also have caused the situation, without the investigation we cannot give any information. There are about 20 children", said Mersini.
It is initially suspected that the poisoning may have been caused by food consumed in a restaurant in Karaburun, hotel food, or food they may have consumed on the cruise ship.
For this, an investigation has already been launched by the Directorate of Public Health.
The rest of the tourists are Albanians, Italians and Turks, who received treatment at the hospital and left.
