The Tirana court found guilty a woman from Tirana who filed a false complaint against the man causing his unjust imprisonment. Alba Miftari, mother of two children, accused her husband of domestic violence after 17 years of marriage, and believing this version, the police did not hesitate to send the suspect to the cell.

The suspect has been in custody since June. But then the wife signed a statement to the notary admitting that she had lied to the police. After the investigations, the Court of Tirana ordered his immediate release. The denunciation of the head of the family was carried out at the height of the conflicts that the suspect had with the family of Miftari's girlhood, with whom they had a dispute over property issues. But after seeing that the man was not letting go, Miftari insisted that the man had never beaten him.

For one year, more than 3 thousand cases of violence were registered for which an immediate protection order was applied for, which was then confirmed by the court with the obligation that the aggressor stay 500 meters away from the victim and not contact him. In many other cases, the courts have ordered the removal of the aggressor from the apartment.

This is the first time that a whistleblower on violence has been punished for making a false report.
