Fedir Alpatov, the Ukrainian arrested together with two Russians for espionage, has asked to be released from prison.
Through his lawyer, Saimir Vishaj, Alpatov appealed to the Court of Appeal of Durrës the security measure "arrest in prison" given on August 24 by the Court of Elbasan.
In his complaint, Aplatov stated that he wants to go to school, as he risks losing the year. He wants to be released on 'compulsory appearance' and not in jail until the investigation is completed.
Alpatov says in the appeal that he was not present at the moment when the two military guards of the Čekin Factory were attacked with syringes in the eyes.
"...he was not at the scene when the neoparalyzing spray was thrown and secondly he has no connection with any espionage agency, the real purpose of coming to Albania was for the hobby of going to former communist countries and photographing bunkers or abandoned guilds, then posting them on social networks, Instagram. He was in Albania for a vacation, where his mother, Ilona, had given him the seized money of $6,000 for the vacation, which has been seized," says the request for changing the security measure.
The Ukrainian and two Russian citizens, 33-year-old Svetlana Timofoeva, 23-year-old were arrested on the evening of Saturday August 20 after an incident at the military plant in Gramsh.
As they tried to enter the factory, they attacked the two Albanian soldiers with nerve-paralyzing spray.
In their testimony, the foreign nationals said they were bloggers and mostly photographed military territories that were abandoned and no longer used by the state.
They are now officially charged with "Giving secret information" and "Providing information".
