Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi testified today at the Special Court (GJKKO) in the trial known as “5D”. He answered questions from lawyer Ardian Leka, defense attorney for Mariglen Qato, explaining how he obtained and published information related to this case.

Këlliçi said that envelopes with documents often arrived at the DP headquarters, which were registered according to procedure by the people at the reception. "Such information comes, often it turns out to be true, often not. An envelope arrived by hand, it is a protocol that I do not deal with, contact the Democratic Party. Whoever has the shift is at the reception",  he declared.

He added that through the NRC website he followed the mentioned companies and made the connection with the conflicts of interest, which prompted him to make public denunciations. " I managed to initially follow the company through the NRC website, I made the connection of the conflict of interest and I made a public statement. I would have asked to be familiar with the procedure for how questions are asked to the honorable court. You must understand, I have made hundreds of public denunciations that contain names and data and it is not easy to remember them all specifically. You must understand the time, the situation in which these documents were made, after I secured data that I saw with public interest I denounced. The data that I verified that the NIPTs were there, the relatives were there, I reacted and denounced, I filed a report and you have them there, " said Këlliçi.

In his testimony, Këlliçi explains that the information came mainly from the media and investigative shows.

"The information I had was about Tushe, Qato, Molla, and later the information that came, if I'm not mistaken, was Mazniku and Kacidhja. I have to verify the last two as there were a number of directors who were rumored to be part of this scheme. I was familiar with information from the media and politics. The scheme was broken down every day in investigative shows, about how this network functioned," said the DP MP.

At this point, prosecutor Klodian Braho intervened, explaining that the questioning process cannot be transformed into accountability or into questions about political opinions, but only about the reports and denunciations that Këlliçi has made procedurally.

The hearing is part of the final phase of the questioning of witnesses, among whom Arbjan Mazniku has been called today.
