Model, author and mother of a son, Emily Ratajkowski, recently spoke about how her lifestyle has changed after the birth of her son and how she chooses to confront the norms that society imposes on women, especially mothers, foreign media write.
"I can't wear heels like I used to, because now my son's school is so close. When we lived in the city, we were only two blocks from his kindergarten. I often took him to school myself and went straight to work. At the time, I was running my podcast, which was also being filmed, so I dressed a little more elegantly," she said.
But she adds that the way she dressed wasn't just about aesthetics, it was about making a statement.
"Oh, I was definitely more careful about what I wore compared to other parents. I think that's one of my ways of being a little 'subversive' in my motherhood. Society tells us every day what a mother should look like, but who says that for sure?"
Emily Ratajkowski, author of the book "My Body," has a son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, born on March 8, 2021, from her marriage to producer Sebastian Bear-McClard, from whom she divorced in 2022. Today, she seems clearer than ever about her personal boundaries and priorities.
“Not focusing on men is really good,” she declared. “In this world, men have taken control, but I’ve discovered something more valuable: community. I still like men, but I don’t have any heterosexual men in my life, except when there’s a romantic interest. They’re fun, but they’re not part of my core.”
She emphasizes that at the center of her life today are women, the queer community, and motherhood, no longer male figures as a social necessity.
Recall that Emily had previously come out as bisexual, through a symbolic post on Instagram, becoming a powerful voice for inclusion, identity, and personal independence.
