The 21-year-old Portuguese man, Luis Miguel Varela Mendes, who was stabbed to death by an employee of the luxury complex 'Principotes', came to Ksamil for a holiday with a foreign travel agency. He was part of a group of young people from Portugal and France who had chosen to holiday on the Albanian Riviera, but got into a fight with employees of 'Principotes', who after raping him with fists, stabbed him to death and left his body outside, until the moment it was discovered by the police.
A day after the murder, Report TV revealed the testimonies of other tourists who were at the bar. The young people stated to the investigation team that they did not see the moment of the murder and only learned about it in the morning when the police arrived.
11 people were arrested for the murder and 2 others were declared wanted. The suspected perpetrator is Sokrat Lipan alias Vata who was caught 5 hours after the incident in Levan, Fier, in the trunk of a vehicle. The two Turks who were transporting him to Tirana were also arrested with him.
Report Tv has revealed the full dynamics of the shocking incident. David Heurtevent, an Albanian with British citizenship and residing in Tirana, was the person who initially clashed with the Portuguese. The quarrel allegedly started over a girl and then involved customers and waiters of the bar, along with Sokrat Vata.
Initially, David Heurtevent, a customer at the bar, shot the Portuguese man in the head and then started punching him. Heurtevent, together with Sokrat Vata, dragged the young man out of the nightclub inside the Principe, “La Guerre”. They took the Portuguese tourist to the sun loungers of the nearby beach bar, “Paradise”, where Vata also stabbed him to death.
Vata then contacted two Turks who asked for help to drive him away, until he was arrested in Levan inside the luggage. The two arrested Turks, Nuh Mahmutoglu and Ezgi Perlak, stated that they had established a social relationship with Vata and that they had paid him as a personal escort several times.
David Heurtevent, who started the fight, is wanted. Together with Vata, they are accused of intentional murder, committed in collaboration. Also wanted is the owner of the bar, Bekim Bulica from Hasi, who, after the incident, fled without reporting the crime.
Serxhi Selimi, Ervis Bunci, Ildi Cekani and Murat Zhabina, waiters at the "Principote" bar, were also involved in the conflict, punching the young Portuguese man before killing him and leaving the scene.
At the time of the conflict, police officer Moisid Matushaj, municipal police officer Romeo Shehu and Kristi Koshi were in the bar acting as bodyguards, accused of not intervening to prevent the incident and of not notifying the State Police. So far, it is learned that police officer Shehu has been suspended from duty./Shqiptarja.com
