The arrest of 4 people in May of this year who were found with 10 pistols in their bags led to the beginning of cooperation between Kosovo and Albania.
In joint proceedings between the two countries, the sale of firearms was proven, using infiltrators.
To unravel the arms trafficking network, the Albanian police administered the testimony of one of the arrested in May of this year, and this information was then sent to the Kosovo authorities. The investigation revealed that the weapons came from Turkey as sporting weapons and were then modified in Ferizaj and made into firearms. The traffickers used Saturdays and Sundays to cross the border because, according to an agreement, cars were not checked and this was in favor of the traffickers.
Firearms in Kosovo were often exchanged not only for money, but also for cocaine.
This is where the role of Eugxhenio Manushi, arrested a few days ago in an anti-drug operation, comes in. According to the police, the latter was interested in weapons and in exchange gave cocaine. Investigations have proven that in several episodes he, together with other people, have gone to Kosovo with narcotics with them and on their return they have brought firearms. Tirana Police is verifying episodes where weapons brought from Turkey have several times attempted to be trafficked to other neighboring countries, for which, if proven, the charges of the persons under investigation will be aggravated.
In the two phases of the operation, 10 people were arrested in our country and 13 citizens in Kosovo.
