Bledar Selmanaj broke through the wall and reached the building's terrace, climbing up the gutters.
He accomplished this with an improvised knife, digging into the wall for some time, then covering it with objects so that he would not be noticed by the guards.
After standing there, unable to move, prison services determined that a prisoner was attempting to escape, making it possible to neutralize him.
The materials have been referred to the prosecutor's office by the SCBB, while investigations continue.
This is not the first time that Selmanaj, accused of the murder of Xhuljano Bullari, has attempted to escape.
The prosecution has requested a life sentence for him, while there is still no decision from the court.
After this attempt, it remains to be seen whether or not the General Directorate of Prisons, with the approval of the Ministry of Justice, will make the decision to isolate him in the harsh 41 bis regime.
