A horror crime that happened in 2017 was revealed a few days ago after 5 years of investigation. At that time, a burnt corpse was found in Shupal Hill. It belonged to 61-year-old Menduh Kurt-Deda. The media have published shocking details of how Besmir Karaj and Gazmir Ngota tied the 61-year-old with a chain used for dogs and set him on fire. The request to disappear was made by Marjeta Karaj, Besmir's mother who has already been arrested.

According to her, the reason was an unreturned debt of 1 million new alleks. Marjeta is in handcuffs, but has not admitted the crime. Her son Besmiri allegedly lives in Italy. He is wanted. While his friend, Gazmir Ngota, has accepted the authorship of the crime.

"About two months after I had returned to Albania, where I do not remember the exact month and date, I was at Besmir's warehouse, which was located behind dormitory no. 1 of the United School of Tirana, and while we were staying, we drank open wine with pickle. At around 01:00 in the morning I ran out of cigarettes and went to buy a pack of cigarettes at a kiosk at the Varri i Bami intersection, which is open 24 hours.

While I was returning, a few meters before arriving at the warehouse, Besmiri approached me with a Ford Focus type vehicle and said: "Come on, let's go for a ride." While we were walking through the alleys, near a fruit and vegetable market in Xhamllik, Besmiri saw a male person walking and immediately stopped the car, as he said he knew him.

For me, it was the first time I saw this person, but I remember that Besmir called him by name, "Mendu" and after putting his arm in his arm, he took him to the car. I remember that the person in question was old, over 65 years old, and I remember that he had consumed alcohol. On the way, in the vehicle, Besmiri began to pressure Mendus, saying: "I have been looking for you for so long." Look what I have to do' and other things of that nature.

Afterwards, Besmiri called his mother, Marjeta, and told her: "I found Mendu." I have him with me by car and come to Kastrati, so you can talk to him yourself". We continued by car and after arriving at the Kastrati gas station in Allias, we put the Ford Focus car in the parking lot, behind the pools of the Las Palmas complex, owned by Cufe, whom I have known since childhood as a resident of the area.

Besmir got out of Mendun's car and immediately started slapping him, cursing and insulting him, while the latter did not react at all, only laughing, as it seems he was in a drunken state. After a few moments, Marjeta came there, who angrily shouted at Mendus, saying: "My brother died because of you. You must return the money to me immediately", from which I understood that Mendui owed Marjeta money.

Menduja told him: "I don't owe a single lek", and he only laughed and this behavior of his irritated Marjeta and Besmir, who started to shoot Mendu, with punches and kicks, as a result of which the latter fell to the ground and he was no longer getting up as he was old. Besmiri and Marjeta moved a few meters away, and for a few moments they talked to each other alone.

After I approached them, Besmiri told me: "How many prisons do we risk?" I told him: "I don't know, we have a lot to risk if something bad happens to him." Next, Besmiri asked Marjeta: "What should we do" and she told him explicitly: "Get rid of it because people don't think about it". After this moment, Marjeta left on foot in the direction of her apartment, while Besmiri and I lifted Mendu by the arms and put her in the back seat of the green Ford Focus vehicle, whose license plates I don't remember.

After we continued moving, Besmiri told me: "We will take the dog back to Dajti", while I did not react, as I thought that Besmiri was simply putting pressure on Mendus. The latter, although conscious, did not react. At a gas station in a place called Kafja e Remë, Besmiri stopped the vehicle and told me: "Get off, get gas" and handed me two small canisters of 05 mil that he kept in the car.

Besmir gave me the money to buy gas, and we continued on our way towards Shkalla i Tujani, until we reached Kodër Shupal. It was very dark and along the way we did not meet any other vehicle or person. At the place called Kodër Shupal, Besmiri stopped the car, together we got out of the car Mendun, holding him by the arm and supported Mendun on the trunk of a tree that was a few meters below, on the side of the road.

Besmir tied Mendu to the trunk of a tree with chains that he carried in the car, so that he would not move, and sprayed him with gasoline from head to toe, while Mendu at that moment only groaned. Besmir took a lighter from his pocket and set Mendus on fire, who was immediately engulfed in flames.

I was shocked, as I did not expect such an action and I immediately went to the car and together with Besmir who was driving it, we returned to Tirana. Along the way, I have become bad, and I have said several times to Besmir: "What did you do like this? I am family. You will leave my children on the road". He told me: "Don't worry that I will bear the guilt that I have committed".

That night Besmir dropped me off at the gas station in Allias, and told me to go home while he himself would wash the car at the car wash. After entering the house, I experienced this event very badly, but still I did not express it to other people. The next day, I couldn't believe myself that I had done such an act and from that moment I started drinking more and more alcohol to get over this event.

Two or three days after the event, I met Besmir at the bar "Kënaqësia" and from our conversations I understood that he too had experienced it very badly. I remember that after the corpse was found in Shupal Hill and the news came out in the media, Besmiri experienced it and told me that Menduja appears in her dreams every night.

I had the same experience. After that, I closed in on myself and cut off all communication with both Besmir and Marjeta. I clarify that, I have thought several times to surrender to the police and explain the fact that happened.

I was in dilemma whether to give up or not considering that I have two young children to raise. This is also the reason that on 24.10.2022, when the police called me, I left the workplace where I worked as a pizza deliveryman and the apartment, after my friend Fatri Tota told me that he had been questioned by the police about this incident Gazmiri said, among other things, according to the testimony published by BalkanWeb.
