Electronic identification does not work in 531 polling stations. This is what the State Commissioner of Elections Ilirjan Celibashi declared, informing on the current situation of the election process.
According to him, there are 4469 fully functional polling stations, while in others it has been instructed that the identification be carried out manually.
" There are 4469 fully functional polling stations, the identification process is being done through the electronic device, there are 206 VCs that, according to real-time information, show us that these 205 VCs have the device configured, but we cannot automatically receive real-time information from them. There are 531 polling stations for which we do not have information, which means that either all these PEI polling stations do not work or they work partially but we do not have this data.
We are communicating with the polling station operators. The process is taking place via PEI- or manually. There are 531 polling stations where identification is not being done through the identification device. We tried to correct in time and with the human resources we had to change the situation.
Even the electoral code and regulatory acts have foreseen such situations, especially when an electronic device is implemented, and it has been predicted that it will be necessary to wait some time with the possibility that this situation will be fixed. We have announced that the electronic identification will be done manually because we did not have the opportunity to wait any longer .
For Celibashi, it is still early for the reasons for these problems, but according to him, part of it is related to the non-appearance of the operators at the polling station or the lack of knowledge.
"Regarding the nature of the problems, it is too early to say the reasons. A part is related to the non-appearance of the operators at the polling station, the lack of complete knowledge of some operators", said Celibashi.
