Residents of the village of Bërxulle protested in front of the American embassy in Tirana today. Residents have been protesting for months since their homes and properties are affected by the construction of the Thumanë-Kashar highway. They demand that their property be compensated according to the market price. To date, they have not received any response from state institutions. According to the residents, the company 'Gener2', which won the concession, started work on the ground without a construction permit and in violation of the law.
"We have been protesting for three months, we have written to every institution, the City Hall, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Prime Minister, the Parliament, and today we addressed you to the American Embassy, Ms. Yuri Kim. Ishallah our voice is heard. That every institution has thrown us on the street and does not ask whether we are residents or citizens of this government. Which government should we turn to because our country is turning a blind eye and a deaf ear. Where are we going and where are we, the residents of Bëxulla, going to go?
Therefore, we call on Mrs. Yuri Kim to ask to put her hand on her heart and address this government that is trampling on its people. We have to take into account these protests that we have made these months that no one is supporting us. In the event that no one supports us, there will be more serious consequences for this protest that is taking place, we will go to the pig in self-sacrifice, we will not give up because no one is supporting us. In some places where they have been, where they have gone and still started some works, no one will know at all", said one of the protesters.
"We are the residents of Bëxulla and we have been protesting for three months and we have not left the department, the municipality, the prime minister and today we have addressed the American embassy so that all Europe can hear that we are not being given any solution. In the properties, they are tearing us apart without any work project. People with families with livestock and we don't know where we will go. A great disaster has taken place here and we are waiting day by day for a solution to be given to us.
