The prestigious Italian "La Repubblica" writes about a provocative Russian mission in the Otranto Canal, where the lines transporting gas, energy and internet traffic between Italy and the Balkans are concentrated.

According to " La Repubblica ", the Russian spy ship has been in the channel of Otranto, not far from Albania, for about two hours.

The Italian newspaper points out that it is about the "Akademik Pashin", which sailed exactly to a delicate point where the pipelines of the TAP gas pipeline are located.

This line is considered of great strategic importance and a replacement of resources after the interruption of Russian gas for Europe. "La Repubblica" writes that the Russian spy ship had first stopped in an underwater Internet line that passed from Bari to the Greek coast.

While the tension for the Rome authorities had started when it passed and stayed in the TAP pipeline, after they feared a similar scenario in the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which was damaged with explosives.

NATO countries are afraid of Putin's revenge due to the sanctions, while the possibility that it is all a psychological war of Russia is not excluded.

The spy ship is 130 meters long and since August 24 it has been sailing in the Mediterranean, in international waters.

"La Repubblica" points out that another Russian military unit in the Adriatic is challenging an American aircraft carrier and its accompanying escort.
