Police have arrested at the Qafë Thana border crossing a person who is internationally wanted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking.
The arrested person is Alija Arslan, 34 years old, a resident of Kicevo, North Macedonia. He was stopped at the entrance to Albanian territory during increased checks to apprehend nationally and internationally wanted persons.
From the verifications carried out in cooperation with Interpol Tirana, it resulted that the 34-year-old had been declared wanted by Interpol Bern/Switzerland, by order of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Aargau.
Interpol Tirana and Interpol Bern continue cooperation on extradition procedures to Switzerland.
