We recall that on September 29, the former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, launched a legal battle to challenge the decision to dismiss him from office.

He filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court, requesting a review of the decision that removed him from the position of mayor of Tirana.

Veliaj argues that the dismissal is unreasonable and that there is no proven serious violation to justify the extreme measure of removal from office.

In his request, he emphasizes that the decision was made without fully respecting legal rights and procedures, unfairly violating the functioning of the Municipality institution.

Veliaj's appeal states that Article 62 of the law on local government cannot replace Article 115 of the Constitution, but must always be interpreted in accordance with it, since any decision taken without proven violation, according to him, conflicts with the Constitution.
