Altin Dumani, the president of SPAK, while reporting to the High Council of Prosecution, raised as a concern the end of the mandate of the Special Anti-Corruption prosecutors, who according to the law do not have the right to re-candidate for the current position.

Dumani said that there are about 9 prosecutors who, at the end of the 9-year mandate in SPAK, will be forced to return to the general jurisdiction prosecutors, while it has been stated that a gap will be created in this institution until their replacement.

The head of SPAK has requested from KLP that these prosecutors, who have a 9-year mandate, be given the opportunity to run again for another 9-year mandate if they want to.

According to him, this would help SPAK, since a lot has been invested in the current prosecutors, either by the Albanian state, but also by foreign partners.

" I want to dwell a little on the status of the SPAK prosecutor, the law says that after the end of the 9-year mandate, they return to the prosecutor's office where they previously exercised their functions.

Some of the prosecutor's offices do not exist due to the change of the map. Currently the law says you go back to the place you were. I come from Apeli and I am very well there.

Klodiani (Braho), comes from Serious Crimes and I don't know where he will go, because serious crimes no longer exist, they were suppressed. This is an ambiguity.

So much has been invested in these prosecutors, by the Albanian state, but also by the partners for their professional development that I think that they are an asset that should be used, not an asset that you use as you use it, not in the negative sense of the word. and then after 9 years, go to a general jurisdiction prosecutor.

Even from my experience, we don't have the luxury of taking these assets to another country. Here, I believe we agree that we do not have enough human resources and enough qualified and integrity prosecutors to fill the gap that will be created.

Why is it very important to understand that 9 SPAK prosecutors will leave at the same time... How will the void be filled?!

There are also some special criteria that you must be prosecutors with 9-10 years of experience. This is my opinion, I am not in favor of the automatic extension of the mandate, but at least he is given the opportunity to run again for another 9-year mandate. Then it is also a matter of choice, at the end of 9 years I may be tired and I will no longer want to continue in SPAK. 9 years is enough for me, but there are other prosecutors who may want to continue contributing to an institution where they spent 9 years of their work" , said Altin Dumani.

Meanwhile, during his speech, Alfred Balla, the head of the KLP, expressed his support for a possible legal initiative that can be addressed to the Assembly.

" Mr. Dumani, KLP has supported you and will always support you in the creation of legal initiatives ", said Alfred Balla.
