Immediately after the news that the AKU has detected the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes STI55 in "Wudy" sausages, wrong information was circulated on social networks about the symptoms: diarrhea, headache, abdominal pain and fever, typical of a seasonal virus.
Asked by "SI" newspaper, the head of the department of Infectious Diseases at the Institute of Public Health, Silva Bino, says that the Listeria bacteria that was detected in the Wudy sausage banned by AKU causes serious problems in human health.
"Listeriosis is not characterized by diarrhea, but it causes septicemia, abortions, premature births. So it poses a risk for pregnant women, people with cancer, people over 65 years old," says Dr. Silva Bino.
While infectious disease doctors in health centers report an influx of patients affected by the seasonal virus, with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, Bino rejects rumors that these are related to the consumption of the Wudy product.
According to her, the influx of patients with gastrointestinal problems is salmonella, which has caused an influx of beds in the infectious hospital.
"The increased cases of diarrhea and vomiting this period are not related to "Wudy". There is a misunderstanding in this direction. The reason for the increase in infectious cases is related to the impact of Salmonella patients.
General practitioners in health centers in Tirana report on increased cases of viruses. According to them, the condition of the patients was severe, with fever, vomiting and diarrhea.
