For the month of May, the number of road accidents decreased by 10% compared to the same period last year.

"The period of May was a period when we had excessive humidity and this may have increased to some extent the accidents on the road as a result of the malfunction of the braking system and lack of care by the drivers. The less attention a driver draws from driving in wet weather, the risk of an accident increases several times", said Arben Luzi, road expert.

In the first 5 months of the year, 427 road accidents occurred out of 483 such accidents last year. Here too, a decrease of 11.6% is observed.

In addition to the behavior of drivers, there are also accidents caused by pedestrians.

"They block the road everywhere, they don't cross the white lines, they don't respect the traffic lights for pedestrians, there are many people who still don't know how the traffic lights work. So all this, the lack of proper education in the behavior of pedestrians on the road, in the implementation of road traffic norms, cause them to have their own problems. However, we should not excuse the drivers in this case, because they also have their part to walk with caution at intersections where pedestrians frequently interrupt the carriageway," said Arben Luzi, road expert.

According to the figures referred to the Institute of Statistics, during the month of May there were 136 accidents, while the 5-month calculation results in 590 accidents.
