The Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu stated today after the government meeting that the ministry will start a program for screening children in terms of vision.

She said there are about 270,000 children from first grade to high school who will be screened in connection with the sight.

The Minister said that the view has a special importance in terms of children's progress in school.

Manastirliu said that children who will face vision problems will be addressed to the relevant doctors to correct the problems, in order to avoid the deterioration of the situation or the loss of vision by the little ones.

"Today we have approved the package of the National Program for Child Care. This program will provide eye care for children from newborns to those up to 14 years old. It is a screening of the visual control for all children ", said Manastirliu.

The Minister said that the program will start after the training of doctors, teachers and the establishment of infrastructure in schools.

"The program will be in three stages. Initially an assessment of the newborn. The second stage will be in the second year of life and the third stage will be extended to schools, where doctors of schools and those of health centers will evaluate the eyesight of children ", she added.
