The Police Supervision Agency (AMP) has provided details regarding the arrest of police officer Arjan Tase after the murder of a 7-year-old girl yesterday on the beach of Potami in Himare.

AMP also explains the circumstances of the serious incident, emphasizing that Tase had initially approached the boat near the area full of vacationers in violation of the rules of navigation at sea and during the moment when he tried to return the boat to the water, he made several dangerous maneuvers hitting with the back of the boat the 7-year-old, who died instantly due to her injuries.

The Police Supervision Agency (AMP) arrested in the act the State Police employee, AT, with the duty of Head of the Community Policing Section at the Elbasan Police Station, for the criminal offense "Murder committed by negligence" provided for by Article 85 of the Criminal Code , in the following circumstances:

On 02.08.2022, around 14:00, the AT citizen, who was on vacation in Himarë, was driving a boat with two engines, from Porto Palermo to Potami, while his family members were also on board.

In the place called Potami Beach, in violation of the rules of water traffic, the AT citizen entered the watercraft in the water space designated for vacationers. This water space has been surrounded with plastic buoys, according to the stipulations in the legal acts that regulate this activity.

After landing the other people on board, the AT citizen made careless maneuvers to return the vessel back to the open sea. As a result of these careless maneuvers, 15 meters from the shore, the driver of the AT vehicle hit the minor citizen JA with the back of the boat, causing serious injuries that led to the immediate loss of life.

After the investigative actions at the scene, the administration of the evidence documenting the guilt of the AT citizen for the criminal offense of "Murder committed by negligence", the investigations have also been extended to the police structures, which in the field of activity charged by the law, have the responsibility for control and monitoring the provision of water spaces surrounded by buoys for vacationers. Also, the investigative group seized the boat, which results in regular legal documentation.

From the procedural actions carried out up to this stage, the heads of the police structures have been taken in the capacity of persons against whom investigations are conducted:

- Chief Commissioner SH, acting as Director of Directorate and Migration in DVKM Vlora;

- FM Commissioner acting as Head of the Border Sector in DVKM Vlora;

- Deputy Commissioner V.LL., acting as Head of the Himar Police Station;

- NB Deputy Commissioner, with the duty of Head of the Dhërmi Border Police Station;

- Deputy Commissioner AD, acting as Head of the Order Section at the Himar Police Station.

The procedural materials are sent to the Prosecutor's Office of the Judicial District of Vlora and the investigative group of AMP continues the investigations to document with legal evidence the criminal responsibility of the above-mentioned Police officers.
